About us

Whether it is a daughter's marriage, her education or abuse she faces, the foundation tries to help her in every way it can.

Sukanya Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Manpur, Gaya (Bihar). Since 2020 it has worked to make women self-reliant, educated and strong.

It protects unmarried girls from domestic violence, helps them at the time of their marriage, and brings doctors' advice to women through its medical awareness van.

The foundation's members work on the ground, going village to village to meet daughters and women.

    Sukanya sewing centre

    A free sewing centre where village girls learn stitching and embroidery and become self-reliant, including one in Hisua (Nawada).

    Wedding gifts

    When a daughter of a poor family marries, members visit her home with vidai gifts for the new household, to push back against dowry and domestic abuse.

    Village awareness drives

    Talking with people about child marriage, foeticide, dowry and other harmful customs, and regular meetings with women's groups in each village.

    Health camps in villages, health lessons for schoolgirls, free sanitary pads, and doctors' advice from the medical awareness van.

Sukanya Welfare Foundation runs a campaign to stop child marriage, female foeticide and dowry and to promote women's empowerment, and we need all of you with us. Together let us uproot these practices, so that the daughters of our country can rise to the greatest heights and fly like free birds.
